1.Overview

Every contribution to Vidya — The Living School directly funds free education, nutrition, healthcare and opportunity for children from underprivileged backgrounds. Because donations are voluntary charitable gifts and not payments for goods or services, they are treated as non-refundable. This policy explains the limited circumstances in which a refund may be considered and how to request one.

2.Donations are non-refundable

As a general rule, all donations are final and non-refundable once processed. Funds are committed to ongoing programmes shortly after they are received, so we are unable to reverse a donation simply because of a change of mind.

3.When a refund may be issued

We understand that genuine mistakes happen. A refund may be considered where the donation was:

  • A duplicate transaction — you were charged more than once for the same intended gift.
  • An incorrect amount — a clear data-entry error resulted in an amount you did not intend to give.
  • Unauthorised — the donation was made without your consent or as a result of fraudulent use of your payment method.
  • A technical error — a system or payment-gateway fault caused an unintended charge.

4.How to request a refund

To request a refund, contact us within 7 days of the transaction at donatevidyalivingschool@gmail.com. Please include:

  • The name used to make the donation.
  • The date and amount of the transaction.
  • The transaction or order reference (from your confirmation email or 80G receipt).
  • A brief reason for the refund request.

Providing these details helps us verify the payment quickly and process eligible refunds without delay.

5.Processing & timelines

Each request is reviewed individually. Where a refund is approved, it is returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days of approval. The exact time for the amount to appear in your account depends on your bank or card provider. Refunds cannot be issued to a different account or by any method other than the one originally used.

6.Cancelling recurring donations

If you have set up a monthly, quarterly or annual recurring donation, you may pause or cancel it at any time from your donor dashboard, or by contacting us. Cancellation stops all future charges but does not automatically refund donations that have already been collected; any such refund is subject to the eligibility criteria above.

7.Impact on 80G receipts

If a donation for which an 80G tax receipt was issued is refunded, that receipt is cancelled and may no longer be used to claim a deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Please do not claim a tax benefit on a donation that has been refunded.
